Introduction

Formed at the end of a hazy summer, Rod Thomas Band came together as a project mixing the talents and influences of good friends. A four piece centering around the music of Rod Thomas who started building a reputation as a solo act a few years ago on the London circuit.

Professional Experience

Rod has been writing songs for over 5 years and has written songs that have earned radio plays, support slots for Clem Snide and Dot Allison, playing alongside The Hot Puppies and neatpeople and won fans in the likes of Mara Carlyle (Herbert / Plaid collaborator), Emiliana Torrini and Beth Hirsch. Recently Rod has taken on a project running "Rod Thomas Band Presents..." evenings in London searching out the best unsigned talent and showcasing his favourite new bands alongside his own material. Rod Thomas and his band have an uncanny knack for writing perfect pop hooks, wrapped up in lovely guitar layers, topped with a simple, yet evocative style and delivery" - Plum Promotions "Excellent. Professional Aims

Great new bands with something interesting to bring to the music scene! Part of our work ethos is to try new things and work in ways that we normally wouldn't which is why having four different musicians from varying backgrounds makes things so dynamic. Rod's songs create the foundation and each band member adds something new to the mix. Not huge fans of the current scene where bands are hyped for who they know and sounding much like other bands, but admire other bands who work away at what they believe in and achieve their goals slowly but surely.

I Like

Books, films and museums. Rod's favourite films include Amelie, House Of America (filmed down the road from his house in South Wales) and Double Indemnity. He likes a bottle of wine or two and playing music with lots of different people to see what happens. Chris works in film and is a huge cinema fan, James loves art and museum visits and Darren takes opera classes, so everyone's interests vary wildly while at the same time having the common thread of working towards something creative.
