Professional Experience
First-time producer Elise Valmorbida worked closely with writer-director GREG LOFTIN on surreal urban thriller SAXON. Thanks to a strong partnership with Line Producer SAM PARSONS, the SAXON shoot was completed within the constraints of a micro-micro budget. SAXON was funded entirely by private equity - mostly mortgage, quite a few widows' mites and the generous support of friends and strangers who dived in and are strangers no more. A graduate of Central St Martins, Elise earns a living as creative director in the design industry. She is a published writer and a member of professional writers organisation 26 and NPA.
Career Apex
In August 2007 SAXON was completed and won a distribution deal with Peccadillo Pictures. The film was nominated for the Michael Powell Award (Best New British Feature) and Elise was dubbed a Trailblazer by Skillset and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. In 2008, SAXON won the award for Best European Dramatic Feature at the European Independent Film Festival. Indie publisher CBEditions offered Sillwood Films a book publishing deal on SAXON the screenplay, to coincide with the film's UK theatrical release, slated for summer 2008. SAXON's 'sneak preview' London premiere is at the East End Film Festival: 21st April at the Rich Mix cinema.
