Introduction

A writer director with a diverse range of experiences across fiction and factual programming. Happy to work in any medium that makes sense for the material and has an audience.

Provenance

I knew I wanted to make movies from the age of six and started off as an actor. I've made tea on film and TV sets, as well as in edit suites in Soho as Mick Hucknall had his skin airbrushed, on video of course. I've worked as an assistant director, a job I loved, a producer, a writer, but primarily my passion and instincts are to direct. After making 24 Hours In London, a series of bad career choices and the precarious nature of film financing made it hard to get the next movie into production but we are getting there slowly

Professional Experience

Lots, ask me over coffee sometime...

Career Apex

It was at 10pm the night before filming was due to start on 24 Hours, my first movie as a director, and by far the biggest challenge I had ever attempted. Everything was under control, I was prepared, the team were sorted. I shut down the computer and prepared to lock up the production office ready for the 5am start in the morning. The phone rang, it was Karen, my girlfriend, she said "I am pregnant, definitely pregnant". How's that for timing? It helped to keep a lot of the challenges of production in perspective. Although it did take my eye off the ball at times.

Professional Aims

To entertain

I Like

Garlic, Manchester United, kindness, peanut butter, MUSE, football, Mexico, imagination, love, being emotionally grabbed by a movie. Pro Evo 2008, coming home to my family at the end of the day.

Film Taste

It's a wonderful life (Takes a while to get going, but a great feel good movie), The Empire Strikes Back, Leon, The Shawshank Redemption (Nearly perfect), Flying Daggers, Predator 2 (Danny Glover at his best), The Last Boy Scout, The Elephant Man: (I wanted to take on the world after seeing it for the first time, it devastated me. Think I lost some of my innocence watching it as a young teenager), Moulin Rouge (All Baz Lurhman's work so far), The Unforgiven, Aliens.
