Introduction
Alan is Programme Director for BA (Hons) Digital Media at Canterbury Christ Church University, Broadstairs campus, and lectures in New Media, including video production and media theory. Alan's main research interests are videogame research, virtual-economies, cyber-identity, the socio-cultural implications of synthetic worlds and global massively multiplayer online role playing games (GMMORPG). Alan has conducted one of the largest quantitaive studies of GMMORPG players (over 10,000 individuals in total) and has spoken internationally and was invited to speak at New York Law School on the subject of his reasearch in relation to the viability of 'building the global metaverse'. He is currently working on a book chapter on multiplayer videogames for the French National Centre for Cinematography.
Professional Experience
With a degree in Interactive Arts from Manchester Metropolitan university, and a masters degree in Electronic Arts from Middlesex university, Alan has also exhibited a number of video works at national exhibitions.
