Introduction
I have listed a number of items on DigitalDeli, in film, music and fiction....please browse and enjoy my work, and any questions or comments are welcome. I am also open to offers to undertake original work in any of these fields, as well as design and film direction. My novel Kaleidoscope is a satirical mind-bending science fiction adventure story in the tradition of Philip K. Dick. The occupants of a vast shopping centre become obsessed by a bizarre sitcom that seems to hold the key to life yet also turns them into raging maniacs. My psychedelic-rock-pop album Fingerprints is very much in the vein of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Small Faces and other artists of the late 1960s, with colour, texture and melody to the fore. However, it is vital and immediate enough to sit alongside other indie records of the modern era. I also have a number of movie screenplays and TV pilot scripts available - please contact me for more details. I generally write 'genre' pieces: thriller, cult, comedy, science fiction, horror and magical realism/surrealism.
Provenance
I'm largely self-taught in everything I do - if something excites me creatively, I normally work out how to do it for myself rather than seek formal training or qualifications. My strange childhood in deepest rural Lincolnshire informs much of my work and my outlook on life. Being a Beatle-obsessed outsider during the 1980s, when such a thing was considered horribly uncool, has also shaped me. I am at my happiest when expressing myself creatively, and seek actively to carve out my own niche in the arts, rather than follow paths laid by others. I am able to work effectively and to a professional level in several mediums (art, music, film, television and written fiction) because the same ambitions, demons and general world outlook feed everything I do. That is to say, my body of work is always distinctively 'Adam S. Leslie'; my psychedelic rock album Fingerprints doesn't feel drastically different from one of my TV comedy scripts or one of my paintings, for example. I am fascinated by magical realism and dream reality, and strive to achieve this in my work through means of colour, texture and mood.
Professional Experience
I have had a number of short and feature films scripts produced, and several more in preproduction. I have also had a collection of demos called A Lincolnshire Echo on sale online for some time, and this has sold well and received good reviews. As well as my own artwork, I designed the packaging and publicity material (the "spider woman" logo) for the forthcoming re-release of Sweet Felicity Arkwright's eponymous debut album.
Professional Aims
I love the feeling of transferring the contents of my imagination to the page, screen or record. Seeing and hearing my personal daydreams come alive is an amazing experience.
